Just for the guys by biltongboy Just for the guys by biltongboy
Palladium and 18k comfort fit wedding band for a client.
I had to make this twice, the first attempt I hashed it on the size, and just as well I was not happy with the joint between the two colours:D

Now I am happy and so was he. It has three 0.01ct diamonds swiss set around the band, so there is always at least one of them showing, but not too much.

Hope you like it:D

Elegant and simple. The little off-center diamond is such a nice, playful touch!

I have seen them about:D
Dont know what to say. Its not inspired by them, or influenced by them. Guys rings are a touchy thing! There is not that much you can do with them, Spexton, also seems to be stainless steel, which is not a ferous metal and doesnt actaually fall into my craft.

I am pleased you like it:D I have some other gents rings, but I am not happy with the pictures:D

:D I never said you actually were influenced, just that it appeared so, which is good, if you consider that I love their designs! I also like seeing this type of design in something other than steel...

I'd tell you that you need to get more pics....by that would be the pot calling the kettle black. :giggle:

Ok thats cool:)
I really like their stuff too, I do find that the stainless steel rings are kinna taking a large chunk of the market from the "normal" material jewellers. Which makes me touchy when it comes to their goods:D

Sorry maybe I am a little over sensitive:D (not enough coffee yet)

that's amazing for a guy ring. I enjoy the men's rings with the platinum and gold. or rose gold

Palladium is one of the "sister" metals of platinum! It works like plat, looks like plat, and has most of the qualities of plat! What it doesnt have is the hefty price tag, and the specific gravity of palladium is a lot less then platinum:D So it thus lighter:D (whaich also makes a difference to the price of a piece!

Its a really great metal:D

I love rose gold! I find the colour just does something for me, and it works on most skin colours too! Some people feel that white gold doent look good on them while others dont like yellow gold:D Rose fits them all:D

Awesome!!!

I've never heard it called Swiss set. I've only heard it called gypsy set or surface set. Interesting, is there a difference?

No difference at all:D
What I call a gypsy set is the ring with the red stone, They have claws that start as the band. Not sure if its a local phrase or what, but we call this swiss set:D

I figured that it was called gypsy set, because they used to use the gems as money for trade as they passed through counties and villages with different forms of currency. So, they had to be able to quickly pop one in and pop it back out. Which is an irony since, when done properly it is not easy to pop in or out at all :) But, to hear it called Swiss set, with the Swiss having the most stable currency in the world, I have no idea where the term could have originated. Maybe the difference in Swiss setting and gypsy setting is how tightly you burnish down the walls to hold it in :D

Beautiful ring. I admire your work in golds. I may have loose my Scrooge-ness and crack into the vault to make something in gold. I just keep thinking that when the :poo: hits the :shithitsthefan: I might need it to get my family to Canada so that we can eats baby seals and live in igloos :D

AH seal steaks? That what they feed the navy guys in your country?:D
As for the igloo's, do they come with built in cupboards? and how stable is the electricity?

The swiss must be the tighter setting right:rofl: I must say the swiss do seem like the tighter of the two?

What is it about you Americans and the canadians, I have always wondered. You dont seem to like each other much?

Oh, I like the Canadians just fine. A little salt and Worcestershire sauce gets rid of the gamey taste :D

Seal steaks? I must have been missing those meals. Of course I was with the flyboys when I served. I just remember meals being a meat and three starches :) I hated it. But, I wouldn't have minded trying a little seal. I bet it tastes like a Canadian :)

Actually, I don't really have a problem with our northern brothers. They send us great comedians and talk show hosts, and we send them Mexicans :D Just kidding.
I think that as a whole, we Americans are taught that we are the free-est peoples on the planet. And, we express this with a bit of egotistical condemnation on the rest of the world. We are also taught in school that socialism is evil and makes a nation fat and lazy. (without mentioning to the kiddies that we are also a socialist nation and have been for over 70 years). So, when we learn about Canada being socialist, we snob our noses at them. And, they don't like us because we are better lovers :D

Salt and worcestershire sauce?

What do the canadian do withh all the mexican you guys are exporting, they must have very low import tarrifs or do you guys have a trade agreement with them?

Man that really got me a rolling:D
I wonder what it is about socialism that makes people fat and lazy?:D

What are flyboys? Airforce?
:D ah must be :D
Sorry a bit slow tonight:D

The Navy actually has (or had) more airplanes than the AirForce. I was a Navy AX man. My job was imploding Soviet subs with nuclear devices. I didn't really enjoy it at all. Actually, it was downright awful. I am too much of a free spirit to handle the military. I had actually signed up to be a photographer, but once they have you, they can put you wherever the bastards want. :D

I am not sure what the do with the Mexicans in Canada, but I imagine the first thing they would do would be to give those poor chaps a coat :D

Actually one of my jewelery buddies that is part of a group that came together last year to tour our art across the country is Canadian. She is a sweetheart. But, yeah, I get the impression that she has something against us Yanks. But, I understand the inflated American ego very well. I work with many exchange students (actually, one is from S. Africa this year). I love to ask the exchange students whether they love the country that they came from, or is America truly the greatest place in the world. I do this in front of the American students.

It amazes the American kids that these folks actually love their homelands better, but came here for educational reasons or their parents' jobs. The Haitians love Haiti. The Africans love Africa. And the Chinese believe China to be the greatest ever. Then I explain to the students that everyone is told that wherever they are is the greatest place ever. It is a real eye opener for these kids.

Yes, we have an ego problem here in the US :)

Man, I write too much :typerhappy:

Hack I would find it very very damn difficult to leave here:D Its home, we have soo much here! We live at the start of the garden route that should just say it all. after a 2km wlk I get to the base of that mountain, and then its just wild:D and within a 50km radius I have some of the most spectacular places on earth! (including the cango caves, the ocean, several river mouthes and the most beutiful maountains and forests)

And thats just the enviroment! our unique culture, has so many things that are just soo south african! and they are all "homely" Pap and wors, biltong, afrikaans, xhosa, sotho, its aworld that I have grown up with! I do have a few places that I want to go look at ayer rock, the grand canyon, italy, greece. The list is endless! But at the end of the day...... I wanna always come home:D it where the heart lies! and i think its healthy for everyone to have that!!
